The Process of Awakening

by JenniLee

"Fortunately, some are born with spirtual immune systems that sooner or later give rejection to the illusory worldview grafted upon them from birth through social conditioning.  They begin sensing that something is amiss, and start looking for answers.  Inner knowledge and anomalous outer experiences show them a side of reality others are oblivious to, and so begins their journey of awakening.  Each step of the journey is made following the heart instead of following the crowd and by choosing knowledge over the veils of ignorance."  -- Henri Bergson, 20th century philosopher

"There are no political solutions to spiritual problems." --  Native American Chief, 1876

The Process of Awakening

Amazing quote from Henri Bergson, considering it is from the early/beginning 20th century, and it is so appropriate for today!

The process of awakening described here is not necessarily a spiritual awakening, although it can be.  An awakening can commence in much the same way as that described in the above quote by Henri Bergson.  For many, one becomes aware that one is no longer in sync with the external reality surrounding them.  So starts a personal journey of questioning, wondering about one's self while also wondering about whatever is going on in their external reality.  Why the disconnect, and which part is off?

Let's add some context to this matter of "waking up."  We live in a world that is very focused on perception - how things appear to others.  We also live in a world that is very ego-centric, meaning that matters which fall within the realm of ego, such as fame, wealth, power, success (as defined by society to be based upon fame, wealth, power, etc.), competition, "survival of the fittest," are pushed as highly important.  Matters of the heart, as opposed to the ego, are not promoted within society anywhere near as much; matters such as loving others, having compassion and empathy, employing forgiveness (not being judgmental), being of service to others instead of service to self, and cooperating with others, are not emphasized or valued as highly.  Is this truly the way of it?  Is this how life is supposed to be?

Our world has become more and more polarized socially and politically as time goes by; what is considered "normal" is more and more abnormal.  Up is down, left is right and 2 + 2 = 5.  To make sense of this, one must step back and start asking questions.  Merely accepting the status quo and going along with it no longer makes sense, which is why questioning leads to a Personal Journey.  Each person has to make sense of one's own reality -- which is comprised of both one's inner reality (consciousness, beliefs, experiences) and the external reality that is experienced.  A Personal Journey soon becomes quite philosophical!  Even possibly spiritual!

Examples of Awakening at a Basic Level

Perhaps one of the most exceptional examples of waking up is depicted by the character, Neo, in the movie The Matrix.  This movie reveals far more disclosure than one might realize; it's not just an amazing science fiction story!  If you have delved into all levels of this website, one thing becomes apparent:  our planet has become a very dark place for humanity.  This makes awakening very difficult, because facing this truth is exceedingly hard!  That is why when Cypher in The Matrix decided he did not want to live with the dark truth outside of the Matrix, he turns traitor to Morpheus so that he can return to the Matrix and enjoy his steak dinners (click image to see this scene).  Within this context, it is understandable why there are those who choose not to wake up!

In my own experience, I was simply unable to accept some of what is shown under Levels 4 and 5 as truth; especially Level 5 (an explanation of the Levels within this website are on the Home Page)!  It took YEARS of repeatedly encountering the same evidence from numerous and varied people, for me to eventually accept such darkness as truth.  To face and accept this level of truth as part of the awakening process, can truly be the "dark night of the soul."  In fact, I would venture to say that at a mass level our entire planet is facing a "dark night of the soul!"  More on this below!

Another great example of people awakening is shown by the #walkaway crowd.  A video put out by Brandon Straka in 2018 does a good job of illustrating how an awakening can kick off.  For him, it was experiencing a disconnect between his own beliefs and values, and those of the group he had embraced - the Democrat Party.  Here is his video that went viral and kicked off his campaign:

As part of the #Walkaway movement, an archive of videos has been assembled covering the stories of people experiencing  their own awakenings and walking away.  You can view some of these stories on #WalkAway Campaign's youtube channel (scroll down to where you see Testimonial videos).

Examples of Awakening at Yet Another Level

Here is something to consider that is highly relevant to the awakening process:  what assumptions do various ideologies (political or otherwise) make about who YOU are?  If you have read the page Truth Within Society, see if you can identify through your own research what assumptions are being made by certain political ideologies (socialism, communism, or fascism specifically) about who people are.  What assumptions are being made about human behavior at a mass level, which then by extension is applied to you personally?  All of which then begs the question -- Who Are YOU??  Are you really what "they" think you are?? - - "they" being those who want to control everything at a global level.  Are you all about ego?  Are you materialistic?  Who exactly is behind everything going on at a globalist level and what do "they" believe? (Levels 4 and 5 contain resources that address this.)  Do you believe what "they" believe?  Also, are the globalists simply making assumptions about who you are, or are they defining who they want you to be?  Are you to be a round peg or a square peg that fits into a pre-defined square hole?  Who are YOU?

Who you are is intimately connected to your beliefs.  Have you ever done an "inventory" of your own beliefs, asking yourself where did you acquire each belief and why do you believe it?  Consider that as a being who possesses free will, the beliefs you accept or don't accept are your own personal choices.  Part of the awakening process, wrapped up with one's seeking of truth, is to evaluate your own collection of beliefs.  Is a given belief something you were told as a child and have been accepting without question ever since?  Rather, did you adopt it from watching TV?  And is this belief something that resonates with you at your core?  As an example, Brandon Smith in the above video realized that the belief system he was aligned with involved feeling hate, and upon introspection he realized that he could not embrace the hate.

The awakening process really does come down to your philosophy of life, because who you are is intimately tied to why you are here, living the life you are living.  Not only is this a philosophical question, it is also spiritual.  Learning who you are and what your belief system is comprised of, helps you to re-connect with your True Self, which is  discovered by turning inward.

Sigmund Freud, a psychologist from the late 1800's - early 1900's, had an immense influence on western society.  Freud contributed a lot to what is understood about "ego," specifically the ID, ego and superego.  And yet, one of his students, Carl Jung, over the longer term ended up diverging from Freud when it came to how they viewed personality, ego, morality and spirituality.  Interestingly, Carl Jung's journey led him to believe he needed to turn inward to better understand who he was.  Comparing and contrasting Freud and Jung makes for an interesting line of exploration!

Now we come back to the term "dark night of the soul."  What is the "dark night of the soul," other than a 16th century poem?  Not only has Nerdy Creator posted a good (brief) explanation of the "dark night," he also describes the way in which many of us are currently experiencing a "dark night of the soul."  Well worth a read:

How to Get Through the Dark Night of the Soul

Part of knowing who you are, is to also understand what you want out of life.  To discover this involves turning inward and embarking on a journey of self-exploration.  If you are more spiritually-minded, then this inward journey may entail reconnecting with your soul.  Either way, turning inward is about plumbing your own depths so that you may better understand who you are, and why you are here.

The resources contained in Level 6 involve the more spiritual aspect of waking up, for those interested.  As usual, the choice to know is yours!
